# UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Portraits & Architecture on Susan Sonntag / Faces of Moscow
All this layers of printed façades, evoke questions on real # unreal # surreal. To deal with these questions in my artist work I started to work with layering.

The people and the architecture in Moscow seem somehow familiar, but the letters of the alphabet and the language turn it into something different, strange, unknown.

Printing on pages of Susan Sontag’s book «on photography» in Russian is an attempt to connect and to refer to her thoughts on truth and humanity in photography.

A slight melancholia and a toughness to conquer the everyday are in some facial expressions which make them equivalent to the monumental power and strength of the architecture.

Exploring new territory is about taking risks and making a step into the unknown. Being open to new experiences and absorb them with body and mind.

Melt in. Be the asphalt you walk on in the rain. Be the rain.

Unintentional Urban Sculpture
The theme refers to the ready-mades of Marcel Duchamp transferred to street photography, the layout in a grid as a very formal structure to the work of the Becher school.

I continue the lost & found theme from my Miami-Projekt in a different way, asking again what is worth seeing, and what is worth being photographed.

real # unreal # surreal
Printing my photographs on used paper, found magazine pages etc. is a way of connecting with the existing. Imprint my view as a way to continue or to question what is there.

Adding a layer, cover and discover, evoking something new.

Andrej Tarkowskij with his films, Polaroids and writings inspired me to explore the dreamer inside myself and ask how I can relate this view to this place.

«Poetry is an awareness of the world, a particular way of relating to reality» by Andrej Tarkowskij, is something I see in Photography.

A work in progress ...
