The Project «Fellow Travelers» represents a new direction in the work of Vita Buivid, which, in the words of Anna Franz (Art Propaganda Gallery, New-York), may be termed «dynamic photography».

Basically this is a new trend in multimedia art: the static photo-frame acquires dynamic development owing to modern technology. The image changes so slightly, that it is impossible to regard it as video-art. It is rather photo based art, because here it is photography that is the artistic subject, even though it is shown on a plasmic screen.

Turning to the theme of traveling, Vita Buivid uses an allegorical approach. The life of a contemporary city-dweller turns out to be determined by a feeling of complete loneliness, even though a large number of people is always present nearby. The project focuses on the portraits of accidental fellow travelers, that are totally isolated in their movements. The vibrating image creates an impression of involvement, bringing the viewer into the atmosphere of a train or a plane, stirring that feeling of uneasiness and tension, that many experience while travelling in today’s rather unstable circumstances. Such social overtones are characteristic of Vita Buivid’s recent projects, but, nevertheless, the special visual approach remains to be the principal feature of the dynamic photos of the «Fellow Travelers».
