exhibition is over
This exhibition season MAMM, which first opened in 1996, launches a celebration of its twentieth anniversary, and also the tenth anniversary of the Alexander Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia. Our school was inaugurated in 2006, and we are justifiably proud of it today. The school is now preparing a new generation of artists who are already frequent participants at important exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
Thanks to the work of its students and graduates the Rodchenko School has become an independent brand in just ten years of existence. This is shown by the numerous Russian and international awards their work has received, including the Kandinsky Prize, Innovation Prize, World Press Photo Award, European Publishers Award for Photography and prizes at international literary and screen art festivals, as well as prestigious grants from art foundations.
In its jubilee year MAMM is organising a series of solo and group exhibitions by Rodchenko School students and graduates. The first exhibition in the jubilee series is a special project as part of the 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, ‘Generation Next’. This features selected oeuvres from the last few years, all united by the issue of the artist’s self-determination in the modern world. Together these works present a broad spectrum of creative strategies and demonstrate the authorial credo of artists that are already determining the face of the new Russian art, artists who, we hope, it will be interesting to follow in future years.
