Kommersant’s free camera is an impartial, professional witness of history. Documenting and preserving critical moments, persons, and events, our correspondents’ camera retains objectivity, relevance, and authenticity: principles propounded by Kommersant since the moment of its creation.

Kommersant’s photography exhibits have a rich history. Kommersant Publishing House presented the «frames of the first page» from its publications to the public in 2001 at an exhibit on the Bagration Bridge in Moscow with great success. In 2002, the exposition was shown in the St. Petersburg History Museum; in October 2004, it was held at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Then came Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Voronezh, Kiev...

«The Kommersant: Free Camera» exhibition is an example of how photography today is occupying an increasingly significant place on the Publishing House’s media platforms. The exposition’s sections present the best photographs from Kommersant’s unique archive of many millions photos, as well as video and online projects which made use of them.

The «Direct Speech» section is dedicated to newsmakers’ reactions to their photos in Kommersant. Whereas previously, official figures retained their officialdom even in pictures and famous people kept their starry aura, Kommersant’s photographers are able to capture the heroes of our time without masks, live and direct.
«Frames of the First Page» contains more than 100 shots encapsulating an attentive, ironic, precise look at the Russian business and social scene in the context of the changing political situation.
The «Vlast» section presents the best covers from the magazine Kommersant-Vlast («Kommersant-Power»), combining unexpected visual angles with incisive political commentary, invariably causing intense social resonance.
The «Flash PHOTO» and the «Photo gallery» projects on the kommersant.ru website show dynamic stories dedicated to significant events and personages. These are thematic photo displays and the best original works of Kommersant’s correspondents.
Kommersant-TV’s «Valuable Frames» project provides the reader and viewer access for the first time to hidden details of photographs, and provides unexpected, fun, and sometimes shocking details of events captured on film.
